What did Augustus Caesar Achieve?
Augustus Caesar as emperor achieved in creating an era peace called the Pax Romana. He did this by conquering new territories with an army of about 150,000. To govern the many conquered territories, he selected proconsuls. He rebuilt Rome to be strong and have a stable economy for everyone by importing food from colonies to feed the poor. He improved the tax system and made the legal system more favorable for everyone. He also assembled the Praetorian Guard, a special task force of about 9,000 created to protect the emperor.

What Emperors were considered "Good Emperors?"After Nero killed himself, Vespasian took control and restored peace. Vespasian's son Titus took troops and defeated many rebellions. Vespasian began construction on the colosseum also. After Vespasian's rule, his son Titus became emperor. During Titus's rule there were two major disaster. Mount Vesuvius erupted in a volcanic explosion over Pompeii, destroying the city. Later there was also a fire in Rome, which burned down much of the city. The good emperors who helped Rome flourish were Nerva, Trajan, Hadrian, Antoninus Pius, and Marcus Aurelius.

Who led Rome after Augustus?After Augustus Caesar died in 14 AD, no one knew how to find a new emperor. Augustus had trained his nephew Tiberius to lead in his place. Tiberius lead just as Augustus, but his successor, Caligula, was a horrible ruler as the result of a mental disorder. He was eventually killed by his own Praetorian Guard after making his horse consul. He was followed by Claudius, who was another good leader and led like Augustus and Tiberius. After him, Nero was another awful ruler. He killed many people, including his mother and 2 wives. He also played his fiddle miles away from Rome while over half of it was being destroyed by a fire. He later killed himself.
