How Did the Civilization of Kush Develop?
Kerma started out as a small civilization just south of Egypt. It is was located were Ethiopia is today.Kerma traded and had many other relations with Egypt. Egypt in its powerful days had captured Nubia, making the Nubians pay tributes, taking prisoners of war, and enslaving their people. This went for as long as Egypt was in its spotlight of its glory. Soon though, Egypt's power began to decline, and King Kashta and his son Piye overthrew the Egyptians and took control. They ruled from the city of Napata. The region of Nubia that ruled Egypt was called Kush. The Assyrians soon came and conquered Kush using iron weapons. Axum also conquered Kush. The capital was then moved from Napata to Meroe.
What Have I Learned From The Past?Problem: The armies of Kush were not able to fight off invaders because the invaders had more advanced iron weapons.
Solution: Since the Nubians were not able to develop iron weapons because the geographical area was not rich with iron ore deposits, I would start a trade with a distant kingdom that is rich in iron ore deposits. Iron sword
Borrowed HabitsThe Kushites borrowed many habits and beliefs from Egypt, such as religion, laws, and burial habits. To bury their people, they built mini pyramids, much smaller than the ones that the Egyptians built, and then they use it as a tomb to bury their Kings.
