Why is the Geography of India Important?
India is a subcontinent, which means they are separated from the rest of Asia by the Himalayan Mountains. The mountains protected them from outside invaders. In the summer the snow would melt on the mountains and flow down to the villages and make the soil very fertile. There were also monsoons, strong winds that bring in warm, wet winds in the summer with lots of rain. The rain flooded the two main rivers, the Ganges and the Indus River. This also left very fertile soil. The Indus Valley was excellent for farming.
